Hi everyone,
A huge congratulations to Rooms, 10, 3, 4, 11, and 8 who worked out yesterdays problem. I hope I haven't missed anyone out...
Of course the answer was 7. I really like the way Room 11 showed their working.
** Just remember when you you have finished posting a comment - you will need to scroll right to the bottom of the post to complete the word verification - otherwise it won't show up.
Here's today's problem: (You could try these strategies - make a table, or subtraction)
To fight plaque attacks, you should limit the number of times you eat sncks each day. For the first week, Fetoa ate 6 snacks per day. But realizing he needed to limit the number of snacks he ate, the second week he ate 3 snacks per day. The third week he ate 2 snacks per day. What is the difference between the number of snacks he ate the 1st and 2nd week? The 2nd and 3rd week? The 1st and 3rd week?

Oral Health & Hygiene - Maths Problem #2
Congratulations to Rooms 7, 10, 14 and 8 who completed yesterdays problem.
Here's one for today. Let's see if we can get more classes posting todays answer.
Here are some ways you can answer this problem... Make a table, use a calendar, subtraction.
Angeline brushed her teeth 2 times a day for one week. The next week, she forgot to brush after breakfast and only brushed one time a day. What is the difference in the number of times she brushed over the two weeks?

Daily Challenge #3 - Answers
Here's the answers from the Daily Challenge for yesterday. How did you go?
Level 1: 3 Motorbikes are parked inside the garage
Level 2: The present was $13.60
Level 3: The dogs ages are: 1,5,9 (1+5+9=15 and 1x5x9=45)
Level 4: Sydney and Auckland are in two different time zones. When it is 1:00pm in Auckland it is 11:00am in Sydney. Hence when the plane lands in Sydney at 2:30pm, it is 4:30pm in Auckland. Hence the plane has actually taken three and a half hours to get to Sydney. (The plane going to Christchurch landed there two hours before this.)
Congratulations to Room 19 and 18 were are the Daily Challenge #3 winners.

Jamie and Josie decide to buy their Dad a Father’s Day Card. The card costs $5.95. Jamie puts in 35c more than Josie. How much did each child contribute to the cost of the card?
Level 4: Amanda’s Watch
Amanda set her digital watch at 13:00:00 on the last day of April. Unfortunately the watch loses 11 seconds a day. What is the time on Amanda’s watch when it is 13:00:00 on the last day of May?

At 1:00pm, two aircraft take off, one after the other, from Auckland airport. One lands at Christchurch airport at 2:30pm and the other lands at Sydney airport at 2:30pm. Does that mean that Christchurch and Sydney are both the same distance from Auckland?

Australian Maths Competition
Whaea Danielle would like thank everyone who supported our students (Y5 to 8) to take part in the Australian Maths Competition on Friday.
The students who participated are:
Bardia, Kelecia, Edward, Caleb, James, Shanya, Miracle, Violet, Moses and Phynes.
Here is a sample of a type of question from each test:
1. Jacqui has $200 in her purse in $5, $10 and $20 notes. She has 20 of these notes altogether. If she has more $20 notes than $10 notes, how many $5 notes does she have?
2. Andrew thinks of 4 consecutive numbers. The sum of the first three numbers is 100 more than the fourth number. What is the sum of these consecutive numbers?
3. The first digit of a six-digit number is 1. This digit 1 is now moved from the first digit position to the end, so it becomes the last digit. The new six-digit numbers is now 3 times larger than the original number. What are the last three digits of the original number?
Whaea Danielle asks - "How did you go on these questions?"
